Two Generations. Over Four Decades.
Richwood Morgans began in 1961, when Marjorie and Richard Hazelwood traveled to the Eagle Ranch and met Ramona Brave. That visit brought them home with the old mare Daisy Sonfield, once part of the Roland Hill herd — the first horse to carry the Richwood name.
Not long after, they found Farceur Morgan at W.T. Carter’s, leasing him and a band of mares before eventually buying the stallion from the Carter estate. From Ramona Brave and Daisy Sonfield came Richwood Morgan (1963) — the first stallion bred in name and raised by Richwood Morgans, and the horse that gave the ranch its foundation.
Generations later, that same foundation still runs through every horse in our program. We have never chased trends. We breed the traditional family Morgan — a horse built for real work, with the mind and the heart to do it, carrying bloodlines we know and trust because we raised them ourselves.

Today, Mary Hazelwood carries the Richwood name forward — breeding and raising traditional family Morgans of working western lines just as it began, with the same commitment to doing right by the breed, the horses, and everyone who becomes part of the Richwood story.
